Participation of the Iraqi Company for Financing Small and Medium Enterprises in the workshop (Enhancing Electronic Government Collection) on Thursday, February 22, 2024, which was held by the Iraqi Private Banks Association, in cooperation with the Prime Minister’s Office, and sponsored by the Central Bank of Iraq at the Al-Rashid Hotel, with the participation of ministries, government institutions, electronic payment companies and banks.

The Governor of the Central Bank, Ali Al-Alaq, said, “The launch of the electronic collection project comes as a translation of the commitment of the Central Bank and the banks and financial institutions subject to the supervision of the Central Bank, in implementing its vision and strategic objectives for developing the financial and banking sector,” noting that electronic collection contributes to enhancing government resources because their collection takes place through a reliable, safe, and transparent environment due to the payment systems and electronic payment platforms provided by the Central Bank and licensed payment service providers.

Director General of the Payments Department at the Central Bank of Iraq, Adnan Asaad, stated that 558 government agencies use electronic payment tools in their departments, especially since the number of cards issued as of September 2023 amounted to more than 18.5 million cards.

He confirmed that the total collections using electronic payment for government institutions in the year 2023 amounted to 418.3 billion dinars through 586.8 thousand transactions.
